Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) was formed on 22 September 1974 with almost 500 employees which are led by Civil servants from IAS Shri Ravi Shanker Prasad
head office in New Delhi. CPCB is a statutory organization under the Forest, Environment, and climate change
it provides technical services guidance and dispute which is an apex organization under the provision of the Environment Protection. Central Pollution Control Board is responsible for national standards of environmental laws, in consulting to zonal tribal, Local governments, and offices. CPCB will conduct monitoring of air and water quality, quantity, and monitor data.
It also works with all levels of government and industries for a wide variety of energy conversation and pollution prevention events.
CPCB advises to prevent and control air and water pollution, which also advises the Union Territory Government and other sources of water and air pollution.
Central Pollution Control Board along with its SPCBs are they are also developed to control the environment pollution by legislation to control/handle the pollution in the capital.
The functions which come under the National and state level for Union Territories which aims to bring up cleanliness in the areas and cleanliness of wells to improve the quality of air and water to abate from air pollution in the Country.

CPCB Network consists of around 621 operating stations which covers 29 states and 5 Union Territories which run nationwide programs for air quality and monitoring
Fresh Water is also an essential resource for the agriculture, propagation for wildlife and fisheries, and industries which hs 44 medium rivers, 55 minor rivers, and 14 major rivers besides ponds wells and lakes where water is used as drinking water without any treatment so the monitoring is done every quarter.
CPCB also conducts programs to improve the environment by implementing project improvement by removing waste solid with the help of Municipal authorities and provide them technical assistance.
