Prasar Bharati is India's biggest government broadcasting company. It is a legally independent group set up by a comprises and Parliament Act, Doordarshan TV (Television) Network and All Asia/India Radio, which were more advanced media members of the Ministry of Broadcasting and Information. The Parliament of India enacted the Act of Prasar Bharati to give this independence in the year of 1990, but it was not performed until 15th-Sep-1997.
The Act of Prasar Bharati grants for the business of a Broadcasting Organization, to be recognized as Prasar Bharati, and determine its functions, composition, and powers. The Prasar Bharati Act gives autonomy to Doordarshan and All India Radio, both of which were earlier under Indian govt control. The Prasar Bharati Act got the assent of the Indian President on 12th-Sep-1990 after being consistently given by Parliament. It was certainly implemented in Nov-1997. By the Act of Prasar Bharati, all assets, property, liabilities, debts, payments of money due, as well as all actions and judicial processes involving All India Radio & Doordarshan were assigned to Prasar Bharati.
