Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) is the R&D division of Ministry of Defence, India Government, with a concept to empower Hindustan with cutting-edge defence technologies and a purpose to achieve self-reliance in important defence systems and technologies, while providing our equipped forces with state-of-the-art defense systems and tools following conditions laid down by the 3 Services. DRDO's hunt of self-reliance and strong indigenous community and creation of strategic policies and platforms such as Prithvi and Agni series of weapons; Tejas; multi-barrel rocket launcher, Pinaka; light warfare aircraft, air defence system, Akash; a broad range of electronics and automated warfare operations; etc., have given quantum leap to India's military strength, creating effective providing and deterrence crucial leverage.

Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) was founded in the year of 1958 of the next then functioning TDEs (Technical Development Establishment) of the Army of India and the DTDP (Directorate of Technical Development and Production) with the DSO (Defence Science Organisation). Defence Research and Development Organization was then a small business with 10 laboratories/establishments. Over the times, it has become multi-directionally in the duration of the variety of subject systems, the number of achievements, labs, and development.

Today, Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) is a system of more than 50+ labs which are deeply involved in improving defence technologies including various methods, like armaments, aeronautics, combat vehicles, electronics, engineering systems, missiles, instrumentation, advanced computing & simulation, naval systems, special materials, training, life sciences, information systems including agriculture. Several important projects for the community of light combat aircraft, missiles, radars, armaments, electronic combat systems, etc are on the hook and important achievements have now been made in different such technologies.
