The North Central Railway (NCR), in its existing form 1st-Apr-2003. The North Central Railway (NCR) being network spreads over a wide area of North Central India, including the states of Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Haryana.

By Dec-2017, Indian railways for the 1st time introduced 6,095 GPS allowed "Fog Pilot Assistance System" Indian railway signalling devices in 4 most main affected zones, North Central Railway zone, Northern Railway zone, North Western Railway zone, and North Eastern Railway zone by taking away with the old system of setting fireworks on railway tracks to change train divers operating trains on snail's speed. With these tools, train pilots understand in advance, about the position of signals, level-crossing gates, and other such surrounding markers.

The North Central Railway (NCR) region spreads over 3 divisions viz Jhansi, Allahabad, and Agra. It continues from Ghaziabad in the north to Mughalsarai in the east on the New Delhi-Howrah trunk route & from Palwal to Bina on New Delhi Chennai/Mumbai corridor. North Central Railway (NCR) includes parts of Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, UP, and Rajasthan with about 3062 km of BG covering predominately double line- electrified divisions defining the views and diagonals of the Golden Quadrilateral. North Central Railway consists of 221 branch line stations and 202 mainline stations.
